Say It with Signs: Beautiful Auslan Classroom Decor That Makes a Difference

There’s something powerful about a classroom that not only looks good but also does good — and that’s exactly what the Livi Creations Studio – AUSLAN Collection is all about.

Designed by Livi, a Deaf artist and passionate advocate for the Deaf community, this collection blends stunning classroom decor with purposeful inclusivity — and best of all? A portion of every purchase is donated directly back to Deaf organisations and initiatives.

At Gifted and Talented Teacher, we’re proud to bring you teacher resources that make an impact — both in your classroom and in the wider community. This is more than just a visual display — it’s a chance to celebrate Auslan (Australian Sign Language), promote belonging, and inspire your students to embrace all forms of communication.

5 Practical Tips for Teaching with the Auslan Collection

1. Start with a Morning Sign: Begin each day by teaching your students a new AUSLAN sign — whether it’s a greeting, emotion, or colour. Make it part of your morning routine for a gentle and inclusive start.

2. Use Posters as Visual Anchors: Display the posters where students will see and use them — by the door, above your whiteboard, or in your calm-down corner. Visual repetition helps reinforce learning naturally.

3. Connect to Literacy and Oral Language: Use the Auslan alphabet posters to support phonics and letter recognition. Pair a letter with the corresponding sign as part of your sound-of-the-week activities.

4. Celebrate and Acknowledge Deaf Culture: Spend time learning about Deaf history and culture with your class. Use this collection as a launching pad to start meaningful conversations about communication, accessibility, and identity.

5. Model Signs Regularly: Don’t just point to the posters — use them! Incorporate simple signs during transitions, roll call, or story time. When you model, your students will follow.

What’s included?

Representation matters — and when students see Auslan in the classroom, they see that communication comes in many forms. This collection is a reminder that every voice matters, even if it’s not spoken.

So go ahead, make your classroom not just a place of learning — but of belonging.

Explore the Auslan Collection now and celebrate language, art, and inclusion — one sign at a time.
