The SEEC Model allows us to classify words in a way that helps to categorise known words, complex words and subject specific words. We do this by categorising words or vocabulary into tiers. Once we can define a word by its tier, it's much easier to learn about each word and to what extent.

Teachers may find that they spend a predominant amount of time teaching Tier 2 words, whilst referencing Tier 3 words in subject-specific opportunities. The SEEC model breaks down the exploration of words where we specifically select, explain, explore and consolidate.
